West Bengal Board manages all the activities related to the education in the state. The boards which handle the examinations related management in the WB Board is different for class 10 and class 12. The activities which a board does is the same. But the names are different. For Madhyamik standard, the board which conducts the exams is West Bengal Board of Secondary Education while for class 12, the name of the board is West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. West Bengal Board of Secondary Education
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education came into existence in the year 1951. It was established under the act of the State Legislature called the West Bengal Secondary Education Act of 1950. On May 31, 1951, the Governor of West Bengal Dr. K.N. Katju inaugurated the WB Madhyamik Board. The Board regulates the secondary level education in the state by conducting the final examinations. Other than this, the board also prescribes the syllabus, textbooks to the schools affiliated with it. Previously, all these activities were done by the Calcutta University. During its entire life, the Board was superseded by the State Govt. twice. The journey was started with 1270 high schools then it was increased 2312 in the year 1963. Then the number was 8000 and presently, the WBBSE is handling around 10238 numbers of schools.
West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education
The WB Board for class 12 was established under the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, Act 1975. The abbreviation of the board is WBCHSE. The council works for 10+2 standard candidates. Its main office is situated at Salt Lake, Bidhannagar, Korunamoyee, Kolkata along with 4 regional offices. The president of the board is Dr. Mahua Das. The board advises the State Government regarding the matters and rules related to the higher secondary in West Bengal state. The WB Board also prescribes the curriculum and syllabus to the affiliated schools and conducts the exams. After the completion of the board exams, the West Bengal board also declares the result.
West Bengal Council of Rabindra Open Schooling
To provide the distance learning to the students, the state has established the WB Rabindra Open Schooling. The State Open School came up as a wing of the School Education Department in 1997. The board was renamed as the Rabindra Mukta Vidyalaya (RMV) in the year 1998. Under the Act Rabindra Mukta Vidyalaya, the WB Open board was effective from August 01, 2001.
The West Bengal Council of Rabindra Open Schooling manages to provide the syllabus to its students. Also, it conducts the exams and announces the result. The WB Open board conducts the board exams twice a year in the month of June and December.
WB Board Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Time Table
West Bengal Board releases its class 10th and 12th time table in the month of November. Candidates can download the Madhymik and Higher Secondary time table online on the official website wbbse.org and wbchse.nic.in respectively. For the Madhyamik and HS standard students, the exams use to begin in the month of February while the class 10 exams end in the month of February itself and HS exams finish in March. The board does not provide many gaps between two board exams. So, the candidates are advised to do the preparations earlier and also the revisions.
The time table contains important information about the exams such as the exam date, exam timings, subjects, and some other necessary information. So, it is necessary for the candidates to download the time table at the correct time. Candidates can also do the preparations according to the date sheet.
WB Board Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Admit Card
Admit Card is one of the most important documents for the candidates. The reason is that the candidates get all the important information about the students as well as about the exam in the admit card. At the entry to the examination hall, the invigilators check whether the student is having the admit card or not. If they have it then they use to be allowed for the exams. Otherwise, they cannot go for the board exams.
The candidates can get the admit card online on the official website i.e. wbbse.org and wbchse.nic.in. So, the candidates can download it from there. To do so, the students need to submit the required information such as the exam name/ class name/ roll number/ date of birth (whichever is asked). The candidates get the admit card in the pdf format having all the necessary details.
WB Board Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Result
For the students, the result is the most important thing. Once, the examinations get over, the students use to search for the results. WB Board declares the result for class 10 and 12 in the month of June. The students of class 10 and 12 get the result online on the official website.
The candidates find the result by submitting the details such as the roll number and the registration number. The students can see the information such as the name of the board, class name, candidates’ name, date of birth, father’s name, mother’s name, subject details, marks details, result status etc.
WBBME Madrasah Board
Along with the regular board exams for class 10th to 12th students, West Bengal board also holds the responsibility of providing the education through Madrasah. West Bengal Madrsah provides the education in the courses High Madrasah, Alim and Fazil. Board conducts the exams of the courses by the month of February. All those students who appeared for the exams provided with an admit card first. To collect it students need to visit their respective madrasahs. Along with this, board also provide the result to all the qualified students online.
Madrasah board has developed with the aim of providing the education to all those students who wish to attain the academic qualification along with their religion education. Thus, the subjects, textbooks and the syllabus of them are also different than the regular state board.
