Amidst the country lockdown and coronavorus pandemic, many schools have decided to cancel annual examination for class 1-8. With 21-day lockdown announced in the counrty, many schools felt that it would not be feasible to conduct the annuals exams. Joining the list, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has decided to grant automatic promotion to students.
On March 23, the KVS annonced that they would promote all class 1st to 8th students without taking written examination. Furthermore, classes and exams have been suspended in Kendriya Vidyalayas and all other schools till March 31 in view of Coronavirus outbreak.
Covid -19: Exams Cancelled
As per the newspaper reports, home exams for class 1st to 8th and that of 9th and 11th class for KVs of Uttar Pradesh state stands postponed till further notice. RO, Varanasi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Delhi, Patna, Mumbai, etc have however decided to postpon all the home exams.
At KV regional office in Lucknow, all exams of class 3 to 9th and that of 11th have been postponed till April 2 and the same hhas been notified thorough a letter by Deputy Commissioner (DC) RO Lucknow, AK Dwivedi, on Wednesday. A similar letter has been issued by DC, Varanasi region for all the KVs coming under Varanasi region.
However, in a meeting of RO, Mumbai, Maharashtra held on Tuesday, it has been decided that the session ending exam schedule for March 19 of class 6 to 8 has been cancelled. Also, it has been decided for class 9th and 11th the examination schedule for March 19, 21 and 23 will be postponed till further orders.
Other States Cancelled Class 1-8 Exams Due to COVID-19
In the prevailing uncertain scenario, many state governments decided to grant automatic promotion to students. These include Pune, Puducherry, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu. Students of class 1-8 will be promoted to next class with ‘pass’ status without appearing for the annual exam.
