JNVST 2021 – Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) is a national level exam conducted for admission in class 6 and class 9 lateral entry. The online application form for JNVST admission 2021 has been released online at cbseitms.in. The selection test for class 6 is going to be held on April 10, 2021, whereas, for class 9 lateral entry, the selection test is scheduled to be held on February 13, 2021. A maximum of eighty students is submitted in each of these schools based on candidates performance in the selection test. JNVST 2021 Eligibility Criteria
Students applying for JNVST entrance exam needs to clear eligibility criteria as provided by the conducting body. You can check the complete eligibility criteria from below:
JNVST Eligibility Criteria for class 6
Age LImit: To be eligible for the test students need to be born between May 01, 2008, to April 30, 2012.
Registered School On District: Candidates who are from the district where Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has been opened can apply for the test.
School Criteria: Candidates need to be studying in class 5 in the session of 2020 – 21 from a Govt. aided school. Other than this if the student has done a B-certificate course from National Institue of Open Learning (NIOS) from the same district they are applying. Candidate passing from a B certificate course on or before 30 September 2020 are also eligible to apply.
Rural Eligibility: Students applying from a rural category must have been studied and passed from a Govt. aided rural area in classes 3, 4 and 5 by spending one full academic year.
JNVST Eligibility Criteria for class 9
Students who fulfill the following eligibility requirements can apply for admission in class 9 lateral entry.
- Students who are studying / have qualified in class 8 during the academic session 2020-2021 in one of the Govt or Govt recognized schools.
- They must be born between May 01, 2005 and April 30, 2009.
JNVST Application Form 2021
To apply for JNVST exam, students will have to register online by provided their basic details. While registering for the exam, students must ensure that the details provided are correct as they shall not be allowed to edit details once the registration part is done. After this, candidates will need to fill in necessary details in JNVST application form and uploading the necessary documents, if required. The application process is to be completed before the deadline and only those who successfully apply for the exam can appear for it.
Application fee – There is no application fee to be paid by the students for JNVST 2021.
JNVST 2021 Exam Pattern
Students appearing for the exam must go through the exam pattern once. This will consist of details like topics to prepare for the exam, number of questions asked, duration of the exam, etc. You can check the complete exam pattern for JNVST class 6 exam below:
Mode of Exam: The exam is held in offline mode, which means it is a pen-paper based test.
Duration of the exam: Students have to complete the test in a duration of 2 hours for class 6 and 2 1/2 hours for class 9.
Type of questions: In the test, students will get multiple-choice type questions (MCQs).
Number of questions: The test consist of 80 number of questions of total 100 marks.
Marking Scheme for class 6: For every correct answer, 1.25 marks are given. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

JNVST syllabus for class 6
Mental Ability Test
The questions in this section are based on figures and diagrams only. The section is divided into ten parts having 4 questions each and assesses general mental functioning of the candidates.
Arithmetic Test
The topics included in this section are as follows:
- Number and numeric system.
- Four fundamental operations on whole number.
- Fractional number and four fundamental operations on them.
- Factors and multiples including their properties.
- LCM and HCF of numbers.
- Decimals and fundamental operations on them.
- Conversion of fractions to decimals and vice-versa.
- Measurement of length, mass, capacity, time, money etc.
- Distance, time and speed.
- Approximation of expression
- Simplification of Numerical Expressions,
- Percentage and its applications.
- Profit and loss.
- Simple interest.
- Perimeter, area and volume.
Language Test
In this section, students will have to solve passage type questions. It is to test the reading comprehension of the candidates.

JNVST 2021 Admit Card
The admit card for JNVST 2021 is released by online mode under student’s login. It is issued and can be downloaded by only those students who submitted their form. To download JNVST admit card, students will need to log in by entering their application number and password. It consists of personal details of the candidate as well as exam details like exam date, address of the exam centre, etc. On the day of the exam, students have to carry the hard copy of the admit card and valid id proof.
JNVST Answer Key 2021
The answer key for JNVST 2021 is released by various coaching institutes an hour or two after the exam is over. It consists of correct answers to the questions as asked in the exam. Students can use the answer key to cross-check their answers and calculate their probable score. You will need to add marks for every correct answer and since there is no negative marking, you do not need to deduct marks for any incorrect answer.
JNVST Result 2021
The result for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) 2021 is released online in the form of merit list. It can also be obtained from the District Education Officer, District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti of the Region. The merit list for JNVST admission 2021 is prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidate in the entrance test and consist of roll number of the qualified candidates.
JNVST Reservation Policy 2021
For admission in the JNV schools, there is some reservation for categories. You can check them in the given section below:
- 75% of seats in a district are going to fill by the students from the rural area and what left is going to be filled by the urban area
- Reservation for SC/ST students is going to be dependent on their population in the district.
- Minimum one-third of the total seats are filled by the girl’s students.
- There is a reservation for Divyang category students. In which students who are suffering from a physical disability is going to get an admission.
