Last year, over 4 lakh candidates registered to appear for the examination of class 12. In the terms of the pass percentage for the different streams, Science had the pass percentage of 52.36%. For Commerce stream, it was 60.09% and for the Arts stream, the passing percentage recorded was 71.95%.

Arts: Arts is also known as Humanities. The widest opportunities are there in this stream. The core subjects are History, Geography, Political Science, and English. The combinations of the elective subjects are Economics, Psychology, Fine Arts, Sociology, Physical Education, literature subjects. English is the compulsory language. The options are available in Hindi, Sanskrit, and French.

An Act to establish the Jharkhand Academic Council was enacted by the Jharkhand State Legislature and assented to by the Governor of the State on 26.12.2003, which was known as Jharkhand Academic Council Act 02.7.2003. The board is responsible to prescribe the courses of studies for such examinations and for recommending for recognition of Intermediate Educational Institutions, High Schools, Sanskrit Schools, and Madrasas. The JAC currently follows the CSBE board pattern, to improve education standards in the state in all branches of education viz. Secondary, Intermediate Sanskrit (Madhyama) and Madarsa. The JAC has been constantly endeavoring to provide the equitable and unified attention at all the levels of education.
