For IGCSE:

  • A*(a*), A(a), B(b), C(c), D(d), E(e), F(f) or G(g). A*(a*) is the highest grade and G(g) the lowest.
  • ‘UNGRADED’ shows that the candidate failed to reach the standard required for Grade G(g).

IGCSE language syllabuses:

  • For some language syllabuses, separate oral endorsement grades are reported on a scale of 1 (ONE) to 5 (FIVE), 1 (ONE) being the highest and 5 (FIVE) the lowest.
  • Candidates who fail to reach the standard required for grade 5 (FIVE) will have nothing reported on the statements of results or certificates
  • Endorsement grades are only shown on certificates where the overall syllabus grade in the language concerned is Grade G(g) or better.

ICE:

  • ICE statements of results are issued to candidates who have entered for ICE.
  • Distinction, Merit and Pass will be awarded to candidates who meet the requirements of ICE.
  • The statement of results shows the ICE outcome and the individual syllabus results for IGCSE.
  • Only individual syllabus results for the final series are reported on this statement of results. Therefore, not all of the counting syllabuses used to determine the ICE award are shown for candidates taking ICE over more than one series.
  • The award rules for the ICE are at the end of this document.

GCE AS Level & A Level:

  • GCE AS Level – a(a), b(b), c(c), d(d) or e(e). a(a) is the highest and e(e) the lowest.
  • GCE A Level – A*(a*), A(a), B(b), C(c), D(d) or E(e). A*(a*) is the highest grade and E(e) the lowest.
  • In some GCE A-Levels, a candidate whose overall performance in the syllabus falls short of the standard required for Grade E(e) will be awarded a GCE AS Level Grade an (a), b(b), c(c), d(d) or e(e), if their performance is good enough in the components that constitute a GCE AS Level.
  • ‘UNGRADED’ shows that the candidate failed to reach the standard required for Grade e(e) for GCE AS Level and Grade E(e) for GCE A Level.

What is the Cambridge International Results Dispatch?

The results dispatch is a specific portal that contains the information you need about the March 2021 series results.

The ‘hard copy results reports’ of pages 2–3 lists the documents in this dispatch, and tells you what you need to do with them.

What is ‘Pending’ and ‘No Result’?

In your result report, you may see these terms:

  • ‘PENDING or Q’ means the result cannot be issued at present and will follow in due course.
  • ‘NO RESULT or X’ means one of the following:
    • Notified the candidate was absent or withdrawn from one or more components of the exam and so is not eligible for the award of a grade.
    • There is no record of a mark in one or more components of the exam for the candidate and notified they were absent or withdrawn. Therefore, they are not eligible for the award of a grade.

Grade Vs Percentage Uniform Marks Range

The board does not provide a percentage uniform mark when the candidate’s result is Ungraded, No Result, Pending or To Be Issued. The table below shows the percentage uniform mark range for each grade:

GradesPercentage Uniform Mark Range
A*90 – 100
A80 – 89
B70 – 79
C60 – 69
D40 – 59
E40 – 49
F

30 – 39
G
(Cambridge IGCSE only)

NOTE: In the case of the Cambridge International AS Level qualification, where there is no Grade ‘a*’, the percentage uniform mark range for Grade ‘a’ is 80–100.’
