ICSE Physics Paper Analysis – Previous Years
Last year, Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) conducted Class 10th physics exam on March 05. Students had plenty of time to not only to prepare but revise the topics as well. In terms of difficulty level, the paper had a lot of tricky questions and was lengthy. However, there were some students who said that the paper was moderate and they are hoping to score good marks.
What does the Physics Teacher had to say?
After examining the previous year ICSE Physics question paper, the teacher said that the Section A was a bit confusing and most of the students seemed to be dissatisfied with it. Paper was definitely lengthy and was conceptual, hence, thorough knowledge of topics is required.
Weightage of Chapters in Physics Class 10 ICSE
Based on previous year exam analysis and feedback given byt he students, it was concluded that marks allotted for ‘Heat’ and ‘Sound’ increased noticeably while that of ‘light’ and ‘Modern Physics’ has decreased. Further, weighatge of marks was maintained for ‘Force, Power, Work and Energy’. Students can check the blueprint of mark distribution for each unit in ICSE Physics (Science I) Question paper from the table below.
Units | Subjective | Diagram-Based | Numerical | Total Marks |
Force, Work, Power and Energy | 2 | 6 | 8 | 16 |
Light | 7 | 7 | 6 | 20 |
Sound | 10 | – | 8 | 18 |
Electricity And Magnetism | 2 | 7 | 12 | 21 |
Heat | 9 | 3 | 6 | 18 |
Modern Physics | 6 | – | 1 | 7 |

The paper was easy but section B was little time taking
Hey Jhanak,
Thank you for your feedback and all the best for your future exams. We are sure you will do good.
Paper was easy for those who had a thorough knowledge of the topics but difficult for those who would have just mugged them up ..although I expect to lose 2 marks in the numerical section due to my blunder in calculation ..
Hey,
Thanks for your feedback. Don’t worry you will do great not only in this but for other exams as well. All the Best!
