About HP Board

The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education was established under the Act no. 1968. It came into existence in the year 1969. It is well known as HPBOSE among the students. First, the headquarter of the board was established in Shilma. But then in the year 1983, HP Board shifted its head office in Dharamshala. At the very beginning of the establishment, the board had the staff of 34 officials but after that, it increased to 643. HPBOSE prescribes the courses and their respective syllabus to the affiliated schools. Other than this, the board also suggest the text-books to the schools. Currently, HPBOSE has around 8000 schools affiliated with it. At the present time, HP board manages the activities of class 10 and 12. The board also conducts the exams for open schools. Apart from matric and sr. secondary classes, HPBOSE manages the courses such as JBT, TTC etc.
