Central Board of Secondary Education

The first board which came into existence in the country was Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education. It was established in the year 1921 and it was established under the jurisdiction of Rajputana, Central India, and Gwalior. Then in the year 1929, a joint Board was set up named as Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Rajputana. But later, in the year 1952, it became the Central Board of Secondary Education.

CBSE is a national level board. The board has been controlled and managed by Union Government of India. There are around 19,316 schools in India and 211 schools in 25 foreign countries affiliated to the CBSE. The board has instructed the affiliated schools to follow the NCERT schools. Its headquarter is present in New Delhi. The chairperson of CBSE is Anita Karwal, IAS.

Objectives of CBSE Board

The board aims to provide stress-free and child-centered education. The board provides the holistic education to the students. CBSE adopts various unique and student-friendly ways to teach the students. The purpose of this board is to provide quality education so that the students set benchmarks in life and can live a successful life.

CBSE Class 10 and 12 Time Table

For class 10 and 12, the CBSE board provides various subjects. The students select the subjects at the time of filling the registration form. From all 6 subjects, the best five subjects use to be considered. So, CBSE releases the time table for the students in the month of January. The board conducts the exams in the month of February/ March. The time table contains the information about the board, exam name, exam type, class name, the date for the exams, exam time, subject code, subject name, and other useful information.

CBSE Class 10 and 12 Admit Card

The students who study under the CBSE board do not get the admit card online. On the official website, the board does not provide the admit card on the official website. So, the students collect the CBSE Admit Card from the respective schools. The admit card contains all the necessary information about the exam as well as about the students such as the name of the board, students’ name, roll number, enrollment number, date of birth of students, parents’ name, subject code, subject name, reporting time, exam date, exam timings etc. It is mandatory for the students to carry the admit card at the time of going for the exams. If the students do not have it then they do not get allowed to enroll in the board exams.

CBSE Class 10 and 12 Result

After conducting the exams, the CBSE board also declares the result. The exams use to be conducted in Feb/ March while the board declares the result in the month of May/June, probably in the fourth week of May. The board announces the CBSE Result 2019 online on the official website i.e. cbse.nic.in. In order to find the result, the students use to submit the roll number. The board does not declare the name wise result. Candidates can check the result in some other ways apart from the official website. The ways are:

  • On Google
  • Digilocker
  • Microsoft Search Engine
  • Through IVRS / SMS
  • By UMANG App

Every year, more than 10 lakh students appear for the board exams. More than 85% of the students pass the exams every year.

CBSE Grading System

The Central Board of Secondary Education has also provided the grading system for the students. According to the marks that the students get in the board exams, they use to obtain the grades. For, class 10 and class 12 candidates, the students can check the grades from the table given below:

CBSE Compartment Exams

The board also provides the second opportunity to the students who do not get the passing marks in the exams. So, for them, CBSE conducts the compartment exams. To do so, it releases the time table. The time table use to be released in the month of June. The board conducts the compartment exams in the month of July. After the completion of the exams, the board also declares the result. Candidates get the compartment result in the month of August.

CBSE provides three chances to the students to pass a class. the first compartment exams held in the month of July. Apart from that, CBSE also provides the two chances. But for this, the students appears for the exams in the next session.
