- First of all, you need to add scored grade points of all 5 subjects.
- After this, divide the number by 5.
For example: If your grade points for 5 subjects respectively= 7,8,9,6,8
Then Total = (7+8+9+6+8) = 38
Average grade = 38/5

Important Points to Note –
- If a school has conducted more than one test or exam within each of the three categories, then the resulting committee has the authority to fix weightage for each test/exam within each category. For example – if a a school has conducted two or three-pre Board examinations, it may decide to take an average of the three exams or can also take the best performance in the three tests or give a weightage to each exam as considered suitable.
- However, in case school hasn’t conducted one or more of the above three categories of tests/exams, then the result committee of the school will have to draw up a criterion for assessment of 80 marks.
- To keep the marks in check, the board has advised the schools that the marks awarded “should be in consonance” with the past performance of the schools in the Class 10 Board exams.

How to Choose Stream in Class 11th?
Students are allowed to select any combination of subjects without streaming, hence, the board has informed the schools to follow the same.
Qualifying Policy and Grace Marks in CBSE Class 10th Exam 2021
CBSE will prepare the class 10th result based on theory & internal assessment marks. Furthermore, at the time of computation of marks, the grace marks policy as defined by the board will also be applied. It will be applicable for those candidates who could not meet the qualifying criteria. However, in case after the grace marks policy, any student is not able to meet the qualifying criteria, he/she will be placed in the ‘Essential Repeat’ or ‘Compartment’ category.
Students who could not meet the qualifying criterion will still be allowed to continue in class 11th till the declaration of the compartment result.
How CBSE 10th Result is Prepared in these cases?
Case 1 – Candidate did not appear for any assessment
In such a case, schools may conduct an offline / online or telephonic one to one assessment and record documentary evidence to certify the recommendations. Students shall be assessed on that basis and by the school out of maximum marks for each subject.
Case 2 – Students with benchmarks disabilities
In case if any student with the benchmarks disability could not appear in any of the assessments conducted by the school, the result for these candidates shall be prepared by the school based on other activities like portfolio, presentation, project quiz, Oral test, etc.
Case 3 – Result of More than 5 subjects
If a student is offered different subjects other than the 5 major ones, like painting, music, etc, then the mean marks of the best 3 subjects out of maximum allotted marks shall be awarded in these subjects.
CBSE Class 10th Revaluation or Rechecking Result 2021
This year, the students shall not get the opportunity for revaluation or rechecking, as per the assessment criteria released by the Board.
CBSE 10th Compartment Exam 2021
After the class 10th result is announced, in case a student is not satisfied with the marks allocated to him/her, they will get an opportunity to sit for the examinations as and when conditions are conducive for the board to hold the exams. The board will announce the dates for the class 10th datesheet exam at its official website, cbse.gov.in. Furthermore, if the students who could not obtain the minimum passing marks can also apply to appear for the CBSE Class 10th compartment exam 2021.
