New Terms Added in CBSE 10th Marksheet
This year, to lessen the mental stress of the students, CBSE has decided to remove words like ‘Fail’ and ‘Compartment’ from the mark sheet. The new terms which students will see in their class 10th mark sheet are –
- RW – It stands for ‘Result withheld’. Due to any reason like technical error, unfair use of means, etc, if the result is withheld, this will be mentioned.
- XXXX – It means ‘Improvement’. Students who appeared for 6 subjects and failed in one subject can appear for improvement. However, it is not compulsory to appear for the improvement exam as the student is still considered ‘pass’ in the board exam.
- COMP – Those who do not score the minimum passing criteria in one subject are placed in ‘Compartment’.
- ER – The word fail has been removed from ER which stands for ‘Essential Re-appear’. Those who are given ER have to appear for the CBSE board exams for all the subjects.

CBSE 10th Compartment Result 2020
In case if a student does not pass in one or two subjects, the board gives them another chance to pass the exam. CBSE conducts compartment exam for these students. CBSE Result 2020: Board will Not Release Merit List
This year, the central board is not release merit list for CBSE 10 and 12 result 2020. ICSE did the same thing and did not release the merit list. However, CBSE is considering this for now.
Why the boards are not releasing the merit list – The reason why the boards are not releasing the merit list for class 10 and 12 is because this year, the result is being calculated on the basis of the evaluation method. Hence, announcing the merit list makes no sense.
CBSE 10th Result 2020 New Assessment Scheme
Since CBSE had to cancel few examination for class 10th, the board will calculate result a bit differently. Here are the details of the new CBSE assessment scheme.
The CBSE result 2020 shall be announced on the basis of performance in the exams which have been held.
For students who appeared in more than 3 subjects – The board will calculate the average marks obtains in best of 3 subjects. The average marks secured in these 3 subjects will be awarded in the subjects whose exam have not been conducted.
For students who appeared only in 3 subjects – The average marks in the best of 2 subjects will be awarded.

What is CBSE Class 10th Passing Marks?
For promoting students of class 10th to class 11th, it is necessary that students for all subjects (or best 5 if 6 subjects are taken) should obtain 33% overall. Earlier in the year 2018, the board granted an exemption for the students as they went through the old CCE system. However, later in the year 2019 CBSE later extended this relief for students.
Ques: What happens if a student does not get minimum passing marks?
Ans. If a student does not manage to pass up to two subjects, they shall be allowed to write for the compartment exam in those subjects. Those who fail the compartment exam, or those who fail in three or more subjects, will have to rewrite all the subjects taken in the next year.

To download the digital marksheet, students may follow the instructions as provided below:
- First of all students will need to create an account on DigiLocker at digilocker.gov.in.
- To create an account, enter mobile number after which an OTP will be sent on your mobile phone.
- Verify your account and then set Username and Password for the account.
- Now, go to the ‘Profile’ page and Sync Aadhar Number with your account. If the DigiLocker Account is already created using Aadhar Number, there is no need not to sync again.
- Click on ‘Pull Partner Documents’ button in the left sidebar. After this in the next screen you will see there two dropdowns: In the first dropdown, there is “‘Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi’ and in the second drop down there is an option for Marksheet i.e. HSC/ SSC Marksheet/ Migration or Passing etc.

- Lastly, the students can download the marksheet.
