The Pudcherry government on March 24, 2020 announced that all the examinations for classes 1 to 9 have been cancelled as a part of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Director of School Education P T Rudra Goud in a press release said that the annual examinations for class 1 to 9 has been cancelled and they will be automatically promoted to then next class. So no exams will be conducted and will be declared as pass.

Due to lockdown in force in the state it would not be possible for the Board to conduct the annual examinations and hence the final exams have been cancelled and have been granted automatic promotion. Since the students from class 1 to 9 are anyway promoted to next class even if they fail in one or more subject, hence, it is better to promote them to the next standard during these tough times.
The government has already declared holiday for 21 days to all government offices except those engaged in essential services like health, water supply, electricity, milk supply among others because of the rising number of cases in the state for coronavirus.
Other States which Have cancelled Class 1-9 exams
Other than Puducherry, states like Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh have also cancelled the annual exams. However, these state boards have cancelled exams for classes 1st to 8th. In Maharashtra, examinations of Classes 9 and 11 will be conducted after April 15.
Apart from annual exams, many states have also poostponed their board exams 2020 due to the rising cases emerginig for coronavirus everyday. Mostly the board exams have been postponed untill March 31, 2020. The country is going through a complete lockdown and it is advised to everyone to stay at home and maintain personal hygiene. It is a must for everyone to maintain social distancing and use face masks and hand santisers.
